Wiggly Babies

I have to say, while there are many things about pregnancy that I don't enjoy, one thing I do love is feeling the baby kick and wiggle. It's a fun confirmation that someone is in there and that things are going okay with him. And it's always amazing how each baby shows a bit of personality already just by the wiggling.

For instance, this baby loves to squirm and wiggle in the evenings. From about 7 p.m. to around midnight he is really active and wiggling all over the place. And this baby will kick and kick when he feels the rumble from a purring cat laying on my lap. I'm not sure if he's just reacting to the vibration, or actively trying to get the cat to move away. Last night I watched him kick directly beneath the cat's head over and over. The cat's head was literally moving up and down with each kick, but she didn't seem to notice/care. She was stubborn enough to outlast the kicking at any rate.

It reminded me of a funny story from my first pregnancy. When I was pregnant with Haley, every time the organ would start playing at church she would go wild. All kinds of kicking and squirming around. It would continue until the song ended, and then she would be quiet again until the next time the organ started up. We would laugh and think it was so funny. "She really likes the music!" we would say. "Look how much she's reacting to it!"

Then she was born and we took her to church with us. And every time the organ music began she would scream and scream. Then when the song ended she would be calm again until the next song began. Ooops. Apparently she didn't like the organ music after all.

So it will be interesting to see, after this baby is born - does he like the purring cat or doesn't he?

Hmm, my baby seems to move only when I eat or am getting ready to go to sleep... Yep, I'm pretty sure she won't like it when I do either of those things!

LOL - Isn't that the truth! New babies never seem to like it when Mama tries to eat, sleep, shower...

We've been debating a lot lately about when or if we will have another baby. Actually, debating isn't really the word because JP is sure he doesn't want another, and if I do depends on my mood that day. One of the things that keeps me from being able to move on and not have another baby is the opportunity to never be pregnant again. Yes, I agree with you, there is so much to dislike about being pregnant...I could make a very long list. But, like you said, feeling the baby move is absolutely the very best thing in this entire world. Your story about Hailey and the organ made me smile and I will be waiting to see what this new baby thinks about the cat. These stories and the talking about a baby moving inside makes me want to have another one...for today anyways!

WOW! that is crazy, and that you remember something like that. I never connected movement to what the baby would like or not like.
Those were my favorite times too, feeling the baby move.

I just think it's amazing in general how they all come out with their own, unique personality. Perhaps the kicking is the first way to decipher what they'll be like... or not! Let us know about the purrs. :)

I look at my kids now and it;s surreal to me that they used to be in my tummy!

The human body is amazing.

I used to LOVE feeling my babies move inside of me. I remember eating lunch and having them go crazy for about 20 minutes after. :) I am so excited for you!!

That is too true! I remember Addy would kick the most about 10pm at night ... and she is a total night owl!
